But what can I do to make myself feel better?
Alright, there are some heartening stories about people digging deep with regard to the tsunami. And for some unknown reason my heart nearly burst when I found out Sam Green was alive and well . You know how sometimes you connect with victims your own age in situations like this?
Maybe it's because he was a bit of a devil-may-care scruff like myself. Or maybe it was because he had no idea the disaster had even occurred. Too self-absorbed and busy living the Endless Summer. I am so seeing Bill and Ted on a surfboard right now. 'Dude, where'd everybody go?'
There's a great deal of charm in that somehow.
But is anyone else finding the self-congratulatory smarminess of their fellow Australians as repulsive as I am? I mean, could we be any more generous? Watch as our pockets empty and our hearts fill up with self-righteousness! You just know Old Rice and Monkey Nuts is going to bust out a column on how Australians can't be a racist people seeing as how they've given so much of themselves to the gooks and darkies. Bless us.
A cartoon in the People's Paper (TM) a couple of days ago showed three planes ready to drop care packages on shattered nations. The first one was carrying an ENORMOUS BUNDLE which read: 'AUSTRALIAN AID $1 BILLION'. The second one had a slightly smaller bundle which read: 'AMERICAN AID $500 MILLION'. The third one had a flag which read: 'OIL-RICH ARAB NATIONS $50 MILLION'.
I love that even in times of despair and human tragedy, the Herald Sun can still find it within themselves to have a crack at the towel-heads. No wonder we don't want them in our country! We're way more generous than sand-niggers!!
Of course I'm not saying to not give. Don't even try that fucking shit on with me. But shut up about it. Go and donate or volunteer or whatever you want to do, but don't go acting the noisy martyr role like you're a teenager with so much to share .
I guess living amongst people who can inelegantly shunt the Bakhtiyari family to Pakistan - are they even there anymore? Where did they go, anyway? Who cares, look over there, a telethon! - whilst also insisting that they don't want to accept tsunami refugees in Australia, is incredibly nauseating.
Why are people such fucking cunts? And who died and made Shane Warne a top bloke again?
Bitter and twisted rant over for today. My vote for fund-raising would go with these guys , by the way.
1002 days til the next election.
Comments
Fits - so right on about Warney. His & Cricket Australia's PR flacks must have simultaneously shot their wads in one another's eyes when they secured Sunday's Hun cover shot of Warney flanked by two cute as a button Sri Lankan kiddies. He just gives and gives.
I swear my mum said the same thing...word for word. Honest. Well, I think she said 'camel-jockeys', she can't say the n-word.
There was also something about "the same people wouldn't give 50 cents to disadvantaged Indigenous Australians".
It's not really altruism/charity if the poor bastards have to kiss our big white (statistically speaking) butts forevermore.
ps - forgot to sign off on that one...
-Buckaroo Banzai
Self-congratulatory smarminess?
Only on the part of masturbation crazy Murdoch journalists. Surely Fits, you are not implying that the Herald Scum represents the collective mood of the nation??
I would like to know where the Bakhtiyari family is. They seem to have disappeared (I hope they haven't been 'disappeared').
Tas, I'd like to think you're right.
Sadly I reckon we've got plenty of compatriots who'd raise a beer to Vandstone's Bakti bashing while dropping a smug $5 note into a jar for 'the ones who stay over there'.
After all, no one jumped a queue to get drowned by the Tsunami.
So beautifully put. You know when you LOL despite the whole thing being fucking disturbing and depressing? Yeah, well, that one.
Yeah, doesn't Australia have a population smaller than California? Shame on your government.
But Howard Math says Darkies = Potential Terrorists
This Mark Green went off on a solo remote island surfing vacation? Only an Aussie. You Adrenaline junkies.
It's Minty Dick here (I love that name).
I'm sure you are all overwhelmed by the generousity of our government. I know I am. Just before Christmas approximately 500 Sri Lankans on Temporary protection Visas (TPV) were sent letters telling them their TPV had expired and they had 28 days to leave the country. However, you can't say our government isn't caring. In light of the Tsunami, the government has said that the Sri lankans can apply to have their TPV extended for, wait for it, 28 days. After that the would have to go back to Sri Lanka. On top of that their are 14 Sri Lankans assylum seekers that I know of in dentention, 10 from the affected areas of Sri Lanka, and 2 people from Aceh also in detention. What has the government said they would do for them. Absolutely nothing. It's heart warming, isn't it? Oh and the ALP's response, also nothing. I feel so proud to be Australian with such a great government and opposition.
As for the Bakhtiyari family, the latest I have heard is that they are making there way back to Afghanistan. However should they choose to stay in Pakistan, this would not be because they are in fact Pakistani, as the government would no doubt claim, but because of the dangerous situation in Afghanistan. Isn't it strange that the department of foreign affairs warns people not to go back to Afghanistan because of the danger, but DIMIA says it is safe enough for the Bakhtiyari family to be sent back. I know I am looking forward to celebrating the countries achievements over the last year on Australia day...
You are a disgrace to the name Minty you prat.
Thank God! Ms Fits, I thought I was alone in the wilderness.
A friend invited me to a certain fundraising concert (he paid, not me) and I've never been surrounded by so many commercial TV watching, commercial radio listening drones. I was snarled at by a complete stranger for sitting down during Guy Sebastians song, and given dirty looks by people in the celeb area for slagging off Kasey Chambers over the phone as she sang.
I have nothing against donating, but I do have personal and political difficulties with World Vision, and so my money has been directed to other organisations who are looking at long-term creation of child-friendly play spaces in affected areas. When, however, I was making comments about the questionable motives of governments and organisations donating and the "competition" created, I was placated by my "friends" with "you really are our commie pinko friend aren't you portek".
As someone who wishes that her situation allowed for her to up and leave and offer her skills to the relief effort - I resent the fact that so many of us just think we can throw money at the problem and spend the rest of the decade patting ourselves on the back. For some people, this is the first time they have EVER donated to a charity... that's cool, but that doesn't mean they can label themselves as a do-gooder and a giver for all eternity based on one disaster.
Oh yeah... and who gave commercial television's B-grade celebs the licence to seek first-hand "how does it make you feel" from any other B-grade celeb with darkie ancestry. A favourite quote was "... and we have Guy Sebastian... he's FROM THE REGION so he'll be singing from the heart this evening" - oh, and Jamie Durie - his ancestry come's from somewhere around there - so why don't we get him to go and visit a village full of darkies and film it to show that he's bonding with his own kind!
GRRR... I didn't really believe there are people in the world who fall for this shit.
Sorry, rant over.
Good rant, don't apologise- and start yourself a blog while you are at it.
I hate it when I'm in 'polite company' such as my girlfriend's conservative friends, and without meaning to be picky make some reasonable observation; for example calling Jamie Oliver a talentless pretentious mockney shitebag, or observing that everyone on big brother is a stupid uneducated bogan and asking why, and people get offended.
Well, I would regard myself as conservative and yet I also think that Jamie Oliver is a "talentless pretentious mockney shitebag" and that "everyone on big brother is a stupid uneducated bogan".
Go figure.
Perhaps it's not conservatives that you dislike. Just idiots.
Conspicuous Compassion
Why Sometimes it Really is Cruel to be Kind
http://www.coronetbooks.com/books/cons6349.htm
Well Minty twat, you and all the other right wing "conservatives" (read: Fascist fucks) are a disgrace to the, well I was going to say the human race, but you aren't a member of it you nazi prick. I'm sure faecal matter everywhere considers you a disgrace to faecal matter everywhere. Considering how ignorant you are, I will tell you that faecal comes from the word faeces, which is a nice way of saying shit, which is what you are full of and broadcast.
On top of that are extremely sad. On you blog when I insulted and threatened you, how did you end your response. I quote "Anyway, hope to hear from you again some time." Sad, sad, sad. Why don't you crawl back into the toilet so somebody can flush you away.
Minty Twat, I think you are right. Idiots are more annoying than right wingers, on balance. In fact by a long shot.
ANd I'll stick up for you and say:
COULD PEOPLE WHO WANT TO MAKE PERSONAL SNIPES HAVE THE BALLS/LABIA TO PUT SOME SORT OF NAME OR NET MONIKER ON YOUR COMMENTS.
If you aren't a blogger member (Fits how bout getting haloscan?) just write it at the bottom. I'm not saying names and addresses, just who you are in the online world.
To Anonymous,
What are you? Ten years old? I guess that would explain your rather pronounced scatological fixation.
Conservative means Fascist does it? I guess that means that Edmund Burke was really Adolf Hitler.
You tool.
Well, school starts again in a couple of weeks. I do hope you will be taking a history class of some sort.
I prefer Minty Twat to Minty Dick anyday.
You guys should really have your own political debate show. Or at least your own cereal.
TWAT versus DICK RIGHT vs LEFT
Everybody would watch a political show with Twat and Dick in it.
Fits, you make some calls, I'll wait by the mailbox for my fat check.
We have to start somewhere. If people feel the need to make noise about their contributions it's only because it's new territory for them. It's no good being all smarmy and holier than thou - let's embrace it and help them become even better people. Fair dinkum I worry about the shit some of you lads and lassies about town generate. Anger and disdain doesn't make for a better world.
Ms Fits,
you really are the empress of all blogsters. Keep up your left-wing rants and raves. The world needs you, and I heart your site.
It's Minty Dick here.
Well It's nice to see that my popularity has not declined at all. I'm always extremely distraught when I get attacked by people who's claim to fame is their online blogging.
Mr Martin Pike, I though it was fairly obvious that it was me responding to Minty Twat's attack on me in my anonymous post. Given your inability to see the obvious no wonder the ALP is in the political, and more importantly the moral and ethical abyss it is in. The reality is that these days Malcolm Fraser is too left wing for the ALP, and as someone who grew up in a working class, union, Labor family this pains me greatly.
Minty Twat. In the current Australian context, conservative is fascist. Anybody who supports the mandatory detention of assylum seekers (because of their race), supports the forced deportation of assylum seekers using sedatives, doesn't believe in a compassionate approach to those people in Australia from Sri Lanka and Aceh on TPV, and attacks unions IS a fascist. As for my language, I suppose I should use more sophisticated language like "prat" and "tool" that you learned at your exclusive private school, where intiation into the school's starting 11 was being sodomised with a cricket bat by the captain.
Kranki. It pains me that you like minty twat more than me, what you being American and all. My computer has the good taste to freeze when I try to access your website. All that needs to be said about Americans is summed up in four words: The American Civil War. More Americans died in this than in any other war. Why? Because even Americans can't stand Americans. I may be wrong, but you strike me as a typical middle class wanker who adopts left wing rhetoric to seem progressive, but the reality is that you adopt this to the extent that it won't do anything that may affect your nice comfortable middle class lifestyle.
I await further attacks.
Well here you go, Dick:
1. You wrote: "Anybody who supports the mandatory detention of assylum seekers (because of their race)...".
On what basis are people detained? Their race? Or is it that they made an unauthorised entry into Australia? The latter I think. They are detained until they it is determined whether or not they are refugees. If they are determined to be refugees they are released on TPVs. If they are determined not to be refugees they are returned to their country of origin (after exhausting whatever legal challenges they wish to avail themselves of. The Bakhtiyaris had at least 20 court appearances). This system is by no means perfect. It is, however, nothing to do with Facsism.
I note, in this context, that the 60th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz is approaching. About a million people were murdered there. Your comments, therefore, are particularly odious and inappropriate at this time.
In essence, you are an embarrasment to your own side of the arguement.
2. You know nothing about me.
3. I didn't complain about your language. I merely pointed out that you appeared to have a scatological bent and that such fascinations are common among the young. You appear to confirm this with your cricket bat comment.
4. There is a certain irony (that you appear to have totally missed) in your attacking the government for its purported racism in one breath and attacking all Americans just for being American in the next.
In summary, you display a staggering ignorance of matters that you have previously indicated were areas in which you had some experience; you are quite happy to make all manner of assumptions about people you know nothing about; you fail to properly read the posts upon which you seek to comment; and you are a hypocrite.
It's minty dick here.
Well minty twat, considering some of my relatives were murdered on the basis of their race (Polish, Ukrainian and Jewish) by the Nazis, and other were forcibly deported and used as slave labourers, they and I do not think it inappropriate to call right wing scum like you fascist.
Now, the discrimination in Australia's refugee policy is indirectly racist. Why? Because if you fly into this country and claim refugee status, you are not put into detention, where as if you come in by boat and claim refugee status you are put in detention. Why is that discriminatory ? Because who is more likely to fly into Australia, people from first world (ie white) countries, or people from third world (Ie coloured) countries. If you knew anything about the law, this is called indirect discrimination. Why ? Because it indirectly discriminates against certain races, shit for brains.
As for the legal process, where do those people appealing a refugee status ruling go? The refugee review tribunal. The members who decide the cases are employed at the ministers discretion on a fixed term contract, and not by DIMIA. If the members of the RRT doesn't make decisions favourable to the government, then they don't get a new contract. Again, if you new anything about the law you would know the status of RRT members. How can such a process, be impartial? Thus you are either showing your bigotry or stupidity in supporting the government and thier policy on this.
As for you point on my language. Well, you referred to me as dick in your last post. Gees, that's not a childish insult . Now who is the hypocrite?
As for you point on my dislike of Americans, well I could make the point that I'm not being racist, because the Americans aren't a race. However this is irrelevant. It was a joke. I don't hate anybody automatically because of their race OR nationality (there is difference between the two). As I said in my post I know nothing about Kranki. Well nothing other than he is American and doesn't like me. It was my not too subtle way of having a go at him after he had a go at me.
Back over to you, pidar.
Nup, i'm butting in.
It wasnt' obvious that it was you. Lots of people post 'anonymously' and your post was pretty lame, so why would I remember it and make the link. I skim along at 50 km an hour like everyone else in blogland.
Your link between my not divining that you were "minty Dick" (ps use your imagination and stop stalking Twat) and the fortunes of Labor is ridiculous.
"It pains me as a true blue yada bla.." well take some codeine. It pains me the number of verbose lefties who don't pull their fingers out of their recta and do any damn work to change the government, but rather whinge about how bad Labor is.
You and I obviously have more similar politics that Twat and I, but your attack on him was exceptionally senseless, OTT and devoid of rational content. He doesn't come across as a fascist- go read Whacking Day or Evil Pundit for comparison. SO I think you should accept my criticism and don't do it again, rather than launching into stupid and intellectually unsustainable anti-Labor rants.
OK, off the boil for me- goodwill and upbeat vibes to both of you.
Northcote Knob
It's Minty Dick here with a quick response.
Martin Pike/Northcote Knob. I'm not a whining lefty who doesn't pull my finger out to change the government. I am active politically, as well as in the union movement and the refugee movement. However I am anti-labor on a number of things. Why? Because I am oppossed to any party that supports mandatory detention. End of story. To hear Laurie Ferguson come out and support the government's deportation of the Bakhtiyari family filled me with sorrow and anger. For me the ALP is as much the enemy as the coalition on this issue.
The fact that the government is willing to deport people who have converted to Christianity back to Iran (to give one example) where they will face the death penalty, all becuase of their race (would the government deport a British citizen to Iran that the Iranian government wanted to put on trial for their life?) makes them fascist to me. And anybody, such as minty twat, who supports this is also a fascist. Am I exagerating? Mussolini, the founder of fascism, refused to deport Italian Jews to Germany because he had a good idea of what awaited them. On this issue Howard is even more extreme than Mussolini.
This government is a disgrace to decent people throughout Australia on the issue of refugees. So is the ALP. Until they change their policy not only will I not support them, I will oppose them.
Dick,
In response to your two most recent posts:
1. Your ancestors must be turning in their graves. their suffering is not your licence to make stupid statements.
2. Racist and Fascist are big words. If you want to bandy them around you will have to do better than refering to the fact that some asylum seekers do not suffer detention or that Refugee Review Tribunal members are not permanent appointments (which is in line with so many tribunal members around Australia. I am sure you recall the Vic government getting rid of a couple of VCAT members last year).
3. I looked at the issue of sending people back to Iran since you raised it. It seems that a number of people arrive from Iran and do not qualify as refugees. They then convert to Christianity and claim that they now can't go back to Iran because they will be subject to the death penalty as a result of the conversion. Putting aside the question of how genuine their conversions were I note that there have been no known cases where such a person has even been charged in Iran as a result of such a conversion.
Again I stress that the system is not ideal. READ THE FOLLOWING SENTENCE SLOWLY: What I am saying is that the system is nothing to do with Fascism.
4. I called you Dick because that is your name.
5. If you wish to carry this discussion any further may I suggest that we do so on my blog. I am sure Ms Fits is quite bored with our bickering.
It' s minty dick here.
Yes I am sure most of Ms Fits readers are sick of my posts and wouldn't piss on me if I were on fire, becuase my posts don't relate to mutual masturbation sessions. However I won't post this on your blog, as every time I see it I want to throw my computer out the window.
What is Fascism? An extreme nationalist idealogy, based on the inferiority/superiority of certain races, and the need for a strong military policy to protect people against perceived internal and external enemies.
Now John Howard has been opposed to multiculturalism because it tries to impose the minorities culture/ideology on the majority. He wants a return to good old Anglo "Christian family values." Not the open, tolerant, multicultural society that was being imposed on the Australian people. Like the Jews tried to do in Germany according to Hitler. The fact that our refugee and immigration policy is skewered to favour rich (read White) people as opposed to poor (read coloured people) is further evidence of this racist, white supremicist view.
The fact that the government prior to the 2001 election talked about refugees as being potentially "terrorists" and the need to protect the country from these people and it's subsequent introduction of "anti-terrorism" laws to combat the "enemy within", is further proof of the government's fascism. The fact that it has engaged in military action overseas to protect the country from a threat that did not exist (WMD in Iraq) again points to this. Oh, and like Hitler, Mussolini and Pinochet, what was one of the first things Howard did when he came to power? Attack unions becuase they stand up for the rights of the individual over the government. Thus, Howard Government = Fascist.
And I agree, my ancestors are turning in their graves. Turning in their graves that a supposed enlightened government could deport people back to face trial for their life based on their race, religion or political view. I family friend who survived Auschwitz (or Oswiecim as it is known in Polish) and who has the tatoo to prove it thinks this government is fascist.
Now when doing your research on the government deporting people back to danger, you obviously didn't look to hard. Or at all. Here is a link that documents some examples of this:
http://www.erc.org.au/research/pdf/1096416029.pdf
The fact that people who have been denied refugee status in Australia, have later been granted it in New Zealand and Canada to name but two examples again indicates that the government doesn't want these people here despite the fact they are genuine refugees. The only reason for this, given the things I have mentioned above and in previous posts, is racism.
There is also the problem that the government can fire members of the RRT who don't make decisons they want, with impunity. This again reveals the fascist nature of this government. In a democracy aren't we supposed to have an independent judiciary? The fact that the Victorian government may also do this doesn't make this right.
The problem with people like you minty twat, is that you are a bigot at heart, and nothing can change that. You selectivaly read things that support your views, and refuse to look at and acknowledge those things that contradict them. Unfortunately there are too many people like you in this country. That's why we have the fascist government that we do, and the spineless, useless opposition that we do.
Dick- so your dislike of Labor has nothing to do with my comment? That's my argument- boom boom.
I'll show leniency to you however to point out that, for the edification of Mint Twat, there have definately been prosecutions for Apostacy before the religious courts in Iran. 2 groups I know to have suffered mass prosecutions (and persecution) are the Sunnis and the Bahai.
Sunnis are accused of it because the Iranian Shiite orthodoxy don't consider the Sunni version to be proper Islam. Bahai have suffered it because their founder, a couple of centuries back, was a muslim who converted to his new faith.
My apologies Martin. Perhaps I did not make myself clear. I meant that there was no recorded case of a person returned by Australia to Iran being charged with apostacy as a result of the "conversions" to which I referred.
Dick, go read a book. Fascism doesn't mean "anthing Dick doesn't like".
P.S. Dick, I suggest that you read Gerard Henderson's article in today's Age: http://www.theage.com.au/news/Gerard-Henderson/Harry-was-a-dill-but-hes-in-good-company/2005/01/17/1105810838278.html?oneclick=true
It's minty dick here.
Is that the best you could come up with minty twat? Where are your responses to to my individual allegations as to why the government is fascist? I'm sorry but John Pilger is much more repsected by by academics and intellectuals than Gerard Henderson ever will be.
Don't forget that fascism is a broad political movement. There were significant differences between Mussolini's Italy, and Hitler's Germany. As I mentioned in a previous post Mussolini refused to deport Italian Jews to Germany because of the danger they would be in. Again, this is something our government has no problems doing. The latest example of this? The forced deportation of Abdul Khogal, a Sudanese man, on January the 11th. Abdul fled to Australia after he refused to implement sharia law, which is a crime in Islamic Sudan. Isn't it funny, actually no not funny but disgusting, that the government is critical of countries that use sharia law, but deports a man who due to his conscience won't implement and punish somebody under it. Abdul was in detention in Australia for 7 years, and despite the fact that other members of his family have been found to be refugees in Australia, the government decided that he wasn't a refugee, chemically sedated him, and deported him back to Sudan. The latest word from Abdul's Uncle? Upon his return to Sudan he was pretty much immediately imprisoned. I don't care what you or Gerard Henderson think , well in your case not think, but say, THIS IS FASCIST.
I am sure that I have read many more books that you ever have, or ever will. Here is my suggestion to you: READ SOMETHING THAT ISN"T GOVERNMENT PROPOGANDA. Though I have to say I doubt it will have any impact on you as you lack the intellect and compassion to fully understand the truth about this government.
Your individual points Dick? OK.
1. The document to which you referred does not refute anything I said about the people returned to Iran from Australia.
Do try to remember what we were arguing about. I have always said that I do not say that the system is ideal. I only say that it is nothing to do with Fascism.
Please try to focus.
2. Breaches of the doctrine of the separation of powers by temporary appointment of judicial officers do not amount to Fascism (even by your own definition).
3. Your definition of Fascism is self-serving and wrong. That is why I suggested that you read a book. You seem to have no idea what Fascism is and just use it as a cover-all term for any activity of which you do not approve. Whilst it is debatable whether Fascism can properly be described as a coherent political philosophy that certainly does not mean that any instance of perceived racism can be described as Fascism. Even a beginner philosopher would understand that even if all Fascism is racist (which is wrong) that doesn't mean that all racism is Fascist.
4. Your paragraph about multiculturalism is just bizarre.
5. You write that people are being deported "based on their race, religion or political view" and yet you offer absolutley nothing in support of this statement. Nothing!
6. The fact that some people who have been denied refugee status in Australia have subsequently been granted refugee status elsewhere says very little. I assume that, in some respects, Austrlia's provisions in relation to who is accepted as a refugee are stricter than some other places. Why should this surprise or alarm us? Are you saying that Australia is required to have the most lax rules of all countries in the World? If there is something unfair about the Australian provisions tell me what it is.
7. You call me a bigot. If I am a bigot then you will undoubtedly be able to point to something that I have said in support of that rather base assertion.
If you wish to do so, you may do it on my blog. I will not be carrying this discussion any further on Ms Fits' site for the reasons stated above. If you wish to have the last word here that is a matter for you.
It's minty dick here.
I have already told you I will not stroke your ego by going to you website minty twat. However by this point I am sure we are the only two people reading this, and quite frankly this there is little point in really continuing this given your narrow mindedness. I will however respond to your points seeing as you had the courtesy to respond to mine.
1. My general point was about deporting people back to danger, and I gave the examples of Iranians who have converted to Christianitry being deported. FYI one of the Iranians recently deported, (after being chemically sedated) upon returning to Iran has been issued with a summons to appear before the revolutionary council. The charge will be specified when he appears, but it seems likely it's for conversion. I also mentioned the case of Abdul who is Sudanese being deported back to Sudan and being immediately imprisoned for not implementing sharia law. Again that's why I suggested YOU read something that isn't government propoganda.
5. I will junp ahead to point 5. Now if the Iranian government wanted a Brit, American etc. to be deported to face charges of trying to convert people to Christianity, or the Sudanese Government similarly wanted a Brit/American deported to Sudan for breaking Sharia law while over there, would the government deport them? Of course they wouldn't. The government is thus willing to only deport certain people back to danger. Those who aren't of the dominant Anglo/European culture/race in Australia. Thus the policy is racist because it unfairly disadvantages certain groups based on their race/religion.
3.To go to point 3 of yours now. I don't know of anybody that would disagree that Fascism is an extreme form of nationalism that promotes a certain ethnic group/race as being dominant. Like this governments view that Anglo/European people are dominant. Remember Howard going on about the fact Australia is predominantly Eurpean and Christian, thus Christmas should be celebrated in public schools. Again, this is a fascist idea ; that the dominant race/culture is superior and should be enforced. Another aspect of fascism is that there are perceived internal and external enemies of the dominant race, thus the need for for a strong government with wide ranging powers to effectively deal with these enemies. Like the Howard government's anti-terrorism laws and invasion of Iraq.
2. The Government's control over the RRT further illustrates this. An independant judicary is a threat to a fascist government as it makes decisions based on the law, not on what the government wants. Thus the need for the government to be able to dismiss RRT members when they don't make decisions favourable to the government, and to limit the ability of refugees to appeal to courts where the judiciary is independent. Remember how the government did this in 2001/2002?
4. You arguement that my paragraph about multiculturalism is bizarre is brilliant! However to reiterate, the government hates the idea of an open, tolerant multicultural society, as it is in opposition to it's fascist view of of the superiority of the dominance of European Christian culture. This government is homophobic, sexist (Howard's idea that women should stay at home and look after the children), racist, and anti-union. Again, all of this is common to fascist regimes.
6. The 1951 refugee convention sets out a uniform definition of what a refugee is. If a refugee seeks assylum in a another country, then signatories to the convention should grant it to them, based on this definition and not on another "stricter" definition. The fact that a number of people who have been found to be refugees in other countries (Canada, NZ, UK and a few other European countries) were not found to be refugees in Australia indicates that Australia is not properly applying the definition of refugee to assylum seekers. Why? The only conclusion is racism. We are not meeting out foreign treaty obligations by applying the law properly: we are deporting genuine refugees as defined under the convention to which we are a signatory. Again, that is why the government has limited the right of appeal for refugees. An independant judiciary can recognise this.
7. The evidence you are a bigot? the fact that in all your posts you defend a system and a government that is racist and fascist. End of story.
