Conversation overheard in Fiji.
Bill (grizzled old Bill Hunter type with high-drawn shorts and a socks-and-loafers combo): 'Did you see that big bloke in here before? The coloured.'Lucy (hot tamale yummy mummy married to Bill and many years junior): 'Oh, coloured. Yes.'
Bill: 'Is that what you call them now? Coloured? I never know what you call them these days.'
Lucy: 'Blacks.'
David (big fat bald Aussie bloke) 'Indigenous.'
Bill: 'Is that it these days is it? Indigenous?'
David: 'Tell you what, a few years ago I was asked to fill out a form and it wanted to know what race I was. I ticked 'indigenous'. I was born in Australia, lived there all me life. I'm as indigenous as they are.'
Bill: 'Probably get a few more government grants ticking that box.'
David: (guffawing loudly) 'Yes! And hand-outs!'
828 days til the next election.

It's funny, when people whinge about groups (Indigenous Australians, Immigrants, the unemployed) receiving handouts, they never whinge about farmers receiving handouts, even though they receive more money from the government than any other group in Australia. Interesting stat, the diesel rebate to farmers cost the Australian tax-payer more money each year than ATSIC before it was canned by the fuhrer.
As the motto of the Agrarian Socialists (the National Party) goes:
"Nationalise the losses, privatise the profits."
so i should stop referring to them as "african-americans" then?
I think they prefer "african-australians" over here nads.
I think you people are disgusting. Making fun of minority groups is the lowest of the low.
I am actually part aboriginal and you people sicken me.
Grow up!!!
Olive, olive, olive - Oil, Oil, Oil!!!!
Pauline Hanson's appearing in Todd McKenney's song and dance review.
I don't know how much lower this country can sink before I really have to leave.
You think that's bad, when I was in Kununurra the guy working in the bottle shop apologised to me because he served me after the Aboriginal elder who was in front of me.When I asked him why he was apoligising, his reason was that I was 'white' and therefore should be served before him. I later found out that this elder was a well-known and respected law man and artist.
We live under Apartheid, people. Don't disbelieve it.
I miss-fits you.
Will be homo tomorrow.
Love your fisho.
Bill: 'Is that what you call them now? Coloured? I never know what you call them these days...

I have no idea why Bill Hunter is always cast as a senior police detective, he would be perfect as a mob boss or an old gangster if they ever make a movie out of Chopper's "The Blowtorch Trilogy".
Thanks.
That's alright, as long as "David" gets the shockingly low life-expectancy to go with those "hand-outs".
Hah. No wonder Howard keeps winning.
I see nothing wrong with that conversation. It's true; aboriginals do get more subsidies from the government. It is also true that you may call yourself indigenous if you are 'native' to your country, ie. if you were born there.
