WED12APR

I'm just drawn that way.

Cartoonist Eldon Dedini has left this mortal coil, and it got me to thinking about my shameful lusting for animated figures. Dedini was the man who drew pictures like this one:

Cartoons like that used to get me ten types of 'confused' when I was younger. These days they mostly make me feel nice in the downstairs area. So I thought I might take a moment to bawdily leer at a few other painted-in objects of desire.

1.

Oh, Enid you sexy malcontent. Sure, it helps that she was played by Thora Birch in the movie Ghost World. But Enid was definitely hot in her own right. Dry, pithy, smarter than hell and existing by her own rules - a perfect teen-girl crushola.

2.

It's the way he talks. It's the way he's so obsessed with martinis. It's the way his best friend is a grown man and his mortal enemy is a baby. YES I AM AWARE HE IS A CARTOON DOG, DON'T JUDGE OUR LOVE.

3.

Actually, I'm kind of crazier about Robert Crumb's wife Aline when it comes to art, but there really is no going past his gargantuan she-beasts. Certain R.Crumb comics make me cross my legs tightly and go pink in the cheeks.

4.

Oh, come ON. It's Cherry Poptart! Who hasn't beaten off to her at least once in their lives?

p.s. when I started google-image searching for this post, I found all the pictures above before moving on to search manga art. Then I got distracted and had to go have a little time alone.

577 days til the next election.

That's my favourite issue of Cherry! AND you've shown the original cover (none of which I have) with her surname!

DAMN polyesther for not stocking any new ones. I haven't seen a new'un for years. Bah.

I'll go slink off and be all creepy-fanboy somewhere else now. Ahem.

I'd have to confess a slight crush on Lois from Family Guy. Sad, but true.

it was a little disconcerting to be travelling in a packed train in japan, commuting day after day, for two and a half years, to know where to rest your eyes when all around there were schoolboys and businessboys with manga comics open to the most lurid and violento scenes, usually featuring schoolgirls in short tunics with legs spread and white panties on show. but then i would be at the laundrette, on my own, and greedily leaf through ones that had been left there, wishing i could read the japanese and understand the stories. very frustrating.

your manga link didn't work either.

Did anyone feel anything when Bugs Bunny dressed up as a woman to woo Elmer Fudd. I admit I was slightly turned on. By the way...I reckon Steve Bracks looks like Elmer Fudd and Jeff Kennett is Wyle. E. Coyote.

I'll admit it is slightly disconcerting when the hot cartoon babe is a duck or a dog, but it still works for me.

Give me a weekend alone with Jessica Rabbit, Veronica from "Archie" and the Nurse from "Animaniacs"... ho boy.

Is Brian from "Family Guy" perhaps your wish for what Bob Ellis (dog) would be like if she could talk?

MG I have the same thing with Bandes Dessinées. You can't really understand, but you get the picture...and what a picture of unnaturally freakish female shape it is...I think I prefer my Sandman comics.

every single google image search i do seems to turn up some dude's drawings of cartoon semi anthropomorphised (?) animals rooting each other or just hanging about with massive equipment. that dude has got google on lock.

nb: he doesn't have many other things on lock.

i can't believe no-one mentioned cherry poptart's tagline- "BIGGER! LONGER! HARDER!"
what a minx.

i'll always have a thing for the disney aladdin and future trunks from dragonball z. cartoons are hot, and people who say otherwise are kidding themselves.
